Two post-doctoral Positions are available immediately at the University
of Tennessee, Chemistry Department in the laboratory of Prof. Mark
Dadmun in the area of polymer blends. The first project involves the
examination of blends containing Liquid Crystalline Polymers using
small angle neutron scattering, FTIR, and microscopy. For this
position, experience in scattering and examination of the phase
behavior of blends are desired. The second position will work on the
formation of multiply bound polymer chains to form loops on surfaces as
model interfacial modifiers. In this study, well-defined polymers of
various architectures will be synthesized by a collaborator, and the
kinetics of assembly, surface organization, layer structure, and
properties of these bound chains will be investigated. For this
position experience with surface sensitive and depth profiling
techniques (SIMS, XPS, Neutron reflectivity, ATR-FTIR, etc? and/or
polymer blend compatibilization is desired.
For both positions, strong writing and oral communication skills are
required and candidates with Ph. D. earned in the U.S. or with prior
postdoctoral experience in the U.S. are preferred. Please send CV,
publication list, and names of three references to [email protected]. Be
sure to indicate which position you are applying for.
